This time the for Dr. Griffin's class we had to find
allusion for the poem "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou and make a
poster. An allusion is like imagery but not exact. Allusion mean an expression
designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly. For this
assignment we had choose five pictures that demonstrate allusions. We had the
choice to choose five pictures more to show the external and the internal of what
Maya is trying to say. The external is how other people want her to feel about herself
for example horrible, sad all those negative feelings. The internal is how she
feel and she still feels powerful and beautiful. Also, how people want to
affect her life by the history maybe of slavery in a negative way but she still
feels powerful and rising. First, Dr. Griffin read the story first to the class
like he always does which it really helps a lot. It help me because he
pronounce the words correct that I don't know how to. Then, I choose a
background for the poster I choose the background fast because I wanted a dark
feeling for my poster. Then, I read the poem by myself, I choose the pictures
about what Maya was saying like the oil well I choice an oil well then I choose
a picture of how Maya still feel at the end of each stanza. Choosing the
pictures wasn’t hard. I think this assignment was fair you just had to think
out of the box. I did this assignment because Dr. Griffin gives fair assignment there
aren’t hard for me not to do it. It also, this kind of assignment are helping
to understand the poems better, which what I always wanted to do because like I
said before I dislike poems.
