"IF" by Rudyard Kipling
In this assignment for Dr.Griffin's class we had to choose four line of the poem "If" that had a metaphor in it and define the figurative meaning and the literal meaning. For literal we had to explain what does it literally mean and for figurative we to explain what does it actual mean. Dr. Griffin first told how this story change his friend's life, that made me think " wow this poem is that powerful". First, we read the poem as a class. Then, Dr. Griffin explain the assignment we had to do. At first, I was confused because I didn't see no metaphor and the teacher said there were like eight . It toke me a while to to find some metaphors I read the poem like five time to find them. I had to look up some words because I didn't know what they meant, which help me a lot. Finding what each word meant made me understand the poem a little more but not completely. I did find some metaphor which was the assignment. When I finish the assignment I was relax because I was done. The metaphor also helped me understand the poem better. I did this assignment because I'm not really good with poem, poem are my weakness I don't understand them even if I read them 100 times. I dislike them but when someone explains it to me, is when I do. The only poem I ever like was the poem name "Metaphor" by Sylvia Path. Also, because I want to improve in understanding poems.
